Jim Jimmery Jim Jimmery Jim Jim Jaroo

Last night Tyler and I got the opportunity to sneak away from our sleeping baby and attend a BYU basketball game. [No worries, we aren't bad parents. We got a babysitter.] We had a blast, even though BYU had a terrible game. I'll admit I was mostly looking forward to seeing The Jimmer in action, and it disappointed me that it didn't really happen. Things were just off.

Nonetheless, we had GREAT seats! My friend Lindsay works as a graphic designer for BYU Athletics and got us seats on the marketing bench, which is super close! We were right behind the cheerleaders. Thanks, Lindsay!!

And Tyler would like to add that right as the top picture was taken, Jackson Emery slam dunked it. Or something like that.

Poor Provo Tabernacle!

Last night around 3:00am the historic Provo tabernacle caught fire! At 6:00am, the roof collapsed. Poor Provo tabernacle. You will be missed.

BYU - Wyoming Game

A couple of Saturdays ago Tyler and I got to go to the BYU - Wyoming football game at LaVell Edwards Stadium. Our good friends the Thompsons had front row tickets! (Lindsay works for BYU Athletics, and gets all kinds of perks!) It rained before and after the game, but only sprinkled a tiny bit during the game, so we got really lucky. It was a bit chilly, but we had a blast! And BYU won!

(My hair looks so red in these photos! I just got it redone and I don't think it's as red anymore, luckily. But for some reason my hair really holds onto the color red. Unfortunate.)

BYU Football Lament

As the wife of a very dedicated BYU football fan, when BYU loses, I lose.
Sometimes a BYU loss makes for a very crabby husband (sorry, Tyler...it's true.)

[But I've been seriously crabby and difficult these past three days, so tonight I'll let him off the hook.]

But BYU - can you just win for us next time? Maybe just once this season so us wives will have happy husbands?

BYU Football

I'm sure Tyler has a lot more to say than I do on this subject, but here is my experience of the BYU-UTAH game in pictures:

(The above pictures are on rushing the field after the game, and are at the victory bell. That was my first time rushing the field, ringing the victory bell, and with Cosmo! yes!)

edit: it was pretty funny because halfway through the game (when we were winning 20-6) Tyler told me that he had a dream that morning that we were tied with Utah and the game went into overtime (he woke up before he saw who won!). We all just laughed at him thinking that was impossible because we were clearly going to win, but look how things turned out...

Oh boy...part 2

In addition to the previous entry, I received several more emails:
This first one was titled, "Notes for Swine Flu Victims":
Here are my notes for Monday:
He talked about life insurance. HW due on Friday.
Pg 158-161

Notes for Wednesday:
He talked about life insurance and told jokes.
Pg 160-161, 164-166

The one following this was equally funny:
I would just like to second my disgust at the emails number of emails I receive.

I am a full time student as well and with all the emails I receive it sometimes is difficult to not accidentally delete one of your emails requesting notes along with the 15+ emails I get selling me cIaLis or some other way to increase my manhood.

Inappropriate. These actions must stop! We're all adults--so leave me alone.

I have never bothered to use the filters on my email account because they just confuse me. It is therefore your responsibility to fix my problem for me.

It's time that you all grow up.

P.S. Please forgive my sardonic ways. It's a blessing... and a curse.

People need to get a life. Although I am enjoying these battles.

Oh boy...

It's quite humorous to me when people email me and ask for notes. If they want to ask in person, I'll be more than happy to give them notes, but if they email the ENTIRE 250+ lecture class asking for notes, that's when I get a bit ticked off. Such a thing happened today, starting with an email that went like this:
Hi ya lovely fellow students! I've missed school this week, you know under the weather like everyone else, so please could someone send me class notes from monday and wednesday SFL 260 9am class? Thanks a bunch!
I read it, and got a little ticked off that this person emailed both the 9am section AND the 10am section (which are the same exact class, each with 250+ people). I'm in the 10am section, but they are asking me for the 9am notes?! Whatever. I deleted it. (I usually do, unless the class is really small or I am feeling particularly kind that day.)
Alas, I (and the rest of the 250+ person class) got another email shortly after from another individual:
Okay, for all people who are sending out emails about getting notes from people it really needs to stop. We're all adults, be responsible and get to know one of your neighbors in class, tell them you are going to be out of town, or come back when you are feeling better after being sick, and ask them to borrow their notes. I am not trying to be rude, but like many others I'm sure, I have six classes so I get about six or seven emails a day, so if you could please refrain it'd be much appreciated. Thanks and have a good day.
Humorous, no? Tyler has been a bit ticked off lately that people email ENTIRE classes for notes they missed too, but he hasn't sent a nasty email...yet.  And yet another email came after that from another individual:
While we have all read many respectful requests to cut down on individual note requests, I'm just wondering how difficult it is for one to simply delete an unread message when it is of no concern to them? I don't mean to cause offense, but who are we to judge another's situation? We don't know if they have classes far away from each other and are pregnant, thus they are late getting into class, which would not allow them an appropriate opportunity to 'get to know' another student, whom they would ask for notes from. Or, what if a student was unexpectedly diagnosed with H1N1 (swine flu)? These students are asked to not come to class while they are contagious, and in many cases contagiousness has lasted over a week. These ill students will automatically fall behind and should not be penalized for missing class because of their illness. Shouldn't we be grateful that they are staying home and stopping the spread of the flu? My point is, that we are all in this stage of life together, what ever happened to giving your fellow student the benefit of the doubt, and helping them out when they needed it? We are in no place to judge, so either help your classmate out, or just click your delete button.
Ridiculous, guys. Make one friend in the class, people, and call it good.

Here's last week's game. We lost, but the sunset sure was beautiful.

No. 7 no more

This past weekend turned out to be a dud. Okay, not entirely, but the football loss sure brought down any Saturday night plans. Our defense simply failed, and as a result so did we, making our loss the first home game loss since 2005. Goodbye, 18 home win streak. I suppose this Saturday we'll be starting back at 1 again...

Friday night was great, though. Tyler and I participated in a Murder Mystery Dinner, which ended up to be a lot of fun. Playing up the Roman theme, we got all dressed up in bed sheet togas and trekked down to Spanish Fork (it was held in a stake center cultural hall because there were 40 of us—6 tables of 8). Our friends Kim and Cameron were at our table, which ended up to be a lot of fun (thanks guys!). I wish I had pictures, but perhaps someone else will post them online?

Sunday was the most relaxing day by far. Oh, how I love Sundays. Tyler and I share the best laughter together on Sundays. : ) Our giggle fits are contagious and we just laugh and laugh and laugh so much. Sundays are fantastic at the Jones household.
Yesterday (Sunday, the 20th) also marked 9 months of marriage for Tyler and I, and 29 for my parents. Congrats, Mom and Dad! : )
(just look at how in love my parents are.
do you see how dad is looking at mom? you can tell he loves her so much!)

Sorry about the lack of blogging. I can't keep up with blogging, work, and a full-time school schedule. My classes are going well, though, and so are Tyler's. My favorite class so far is my Modern Art History class (Surprising, I know! But the teacher turned out to be fantastic, and I love that it's modern art, not 16th-century political art). I also really love my cooking class. My teacher's goal for the semester is to make us love cooking. And I already do. I can't wait to use the kitchenaid in this week's lab! (I really think I'm going to start saving up for one. Maybe by next Christmas, if we find a good sale, we'll be able to afford one.) Tyler has an interview this week with Grant Thorton. I'm sure it will go well. : ) We'll update next week!
